I almost always use storyboards to help me plan out how sequences will form and work out. I like using storyboards because it allows me to better understand how something is going to work from the viewer/user perspective and from the director/designer perspective. I think using a variety of these different brainstorming models helps a lot in gaining perspective on how things should not only look, but how to create it in that specific way, and how the user will interact with it.

This chapter was very useful. Its interesting to think that design research really plays a vital role in designing a product. I know its something that I never really thought about before. I am certain that it is the only way to truly design a product fitted exactly for its intended users. Brainstorming is vital for creating and without proper research into that subject, Brainstorming would be very difficult.

I think in a physical sense the Poka-Yoke Prinicple is super important to make and utilize. Though it may seem better to keep things simple with many connectors fitting into the same connection, This is really not the case. So many times have I seen my father or grandparents trying to hook in a cable that doesnt belong. Or better yet, when I work at the local photolab back home I see tons of people who have no clue what kind of memory card they have and have not a clue as to which slot it belongs in. Having specific sized slots so that people dont put the wrong one in the wrong hole is perfect. Well, its almost perfect, I still have people with smaller cards putting them into bigger holes on accident, but for the most part people can see where to put the square peg in the square hole. It does help save time and does help the consumer with limited knowledge on design because certain cables and objects will only fit in certain holes insuring that that is their proper place.

This chapter seems to really focus on the design process in a very abstract way. Its a bit daunting and confusing to analyze without many real world situations to help back up the logic. The processes seem logical and seem to get really complex especially with the number of people involved with the design and usability of one certain product. It relaxes me because I would like to partcipate in this field but would not like to have the burden of being the one decision maker for the project.

Genius design is something pretty interesting in itself. it seems rare. I think the iphone and ipod touch are genius design tool with a pretty good place for expandability in a technological sense. they seem to have hit the nail on the head with user control now they need to over come hardware limitations to create more features for the users. I think wacom tablets have started to accomplish this genius design concept well with their clinq tablets. You get to see what you are drawing on the computer and with your wacom pen you can have pressure sensitivity and a feel of a real brush. For any person who is interested in computer art a wacom tablet is the most well respected name in order to get your ideas out onto the computer in a very effective and organic way.

I never really realized the massive effect of our interaction with each other through various means of technology. Through interaction design we are able to communicate so much more effectively and profoundly than through basic personal conversation (people talking to each other face to face) Through this interaction design we are potentially able to address the entire world through Television, Radio, Internet, etc. Without designers designing ways for us to record and communicate to others in the present or future, most of the world we know it wouldnt exist. Interaction design has allowed us to grow as a world and build upon previous knowledge at an exponential rate. Not all the designs we have used or will use are perfect, but through the constant tinkering with flaws and new potentials in technology we are able to get closer and closer to being able to communicate with less and less effort.

Many talk about the future, with flying cars and Virtual reality at our fingertips. I forsee someday it happening close to that with interaction design being simply a thought that someone thinks and a machine can process that and interpret/annonce it in a effiencient manner.

We are far away from that reality now, but seeing the progress we have made so far it only makes sense to see the limitless possiblities we will soon discover over time.
